New website projects are always exciting, as they give businesses the opportunity to showcase themselves online and put their best foot forward. But how exactly does the process work?
When we were approached by Surelay UK Ltd, a leading surfacing company based in Wokingham, we were asked to create a brand new site which would elevate their online presence. Here’s how we did it:
The client’s old site worked well and did display their excellent work, however there were areas that didn’t quite do them justice. This provided an excellent opportunity for our Design Team, as they were able to be creative and experiment with how best to enhance Surelay UK’s digital presence.
One of the first ways in which this was done was by assessing the colour scheme, as the colours on the old site were slightly dated. As the nature of Surelay UK’s work is very visual and they deliver it to such a high standard, it was vital that the design elements of the site reflected their premium service.
This is why the colour scheme was narrowed down to just white and yellow, as reflected in their logo, for a clean and minimal combination which wouldn’t make the site look busy. Combined with the use of high-quality images and attractive icons to represent their services, the new site effectively reflects the high standing of Surelay UK as a business.
It was also important to their team that potential customers trusted the quality of their service, so we decided to add some logos of their previous clients. These include the London 2012 Olympic Games and the Royal Collection Trust, so not including these logos would have felt like a missed opportunity!
Another crucial step in designing this new website was optimising it for all devices, so this is exactly what we did. By taking the time to do so for each device individually, we were able to ensure that anyone visiting Surelay UK’s website would have a great experience no matter where they were or what device they were using.
We then tested all of the different formats and elements to make sure that the UX was as great as it could be, assessing everything from ease of use and navigation to load speed. All of this came together with the design to make sure that the new website would not only look great, but work well for visitors.
As trusted and reliable tradesmen, the team at Surelay UK are always honest with their customers and get straight to the point - so it was important that the website was no different.
The team themselves are friendly and approachable, so this was also something that we worked hard to convey within the copy whilst reiterating their knowledge and experience. By really taking the time in our meetings with Surelay UK to get to know their values, approach and business goals, we were able to find a tone and writing style which would work well on their website.
