Alamo Blinds
, a local showroom of blinds, shutters, curtains and outdoor living, came to us a couple of years ago for a new brand and website for their business after they left the franchise they were in. At the time, we supplied them with a distinctive look and cohesive website which served all of their needs. Now we have been working together to update both the brand and website to give it a more contemporary and established look to go with their successful business.
The Logo
The previous Alamo Blinds
logo (pictured below left) was a flowing typeface with a sans serif slogan font. It was friendly, approachable and tidy, but the client felt that he wanted it to be updated to something that can be more clearly read on their vans when they are driving around. The new logo (below right) uses a typeface with more distinct shapes to the letters, making it easier to decipher from further distances. We have kept a friendly and approachable aspect to it in the slogan font, which overall means you keep the same feeling from the old logo, but with added readability and modernity.
The Website
As a blinds showroom with one of the biggest range of stock in the area, there is a lot to cover in one website with Alamo. The old website was struggling to adapt and grow as Alamo's business and stock was, and so it was time to move to a different design which would better reflect this up-to-date business and cater for their growing needs.
We wanted to focus on showcasing the great blinds, shutters and curtains that Alamo stocks. This was done through a heavy use of imagery throughout the site, both of the showroom and of products in homes. This lifts the site up, and lets the user truly imagine what kind of blinds would look good in their own home or business.
Due to the amount of styles of blinds that Alamo stock, we created some icons that are able to quickly differentiate between them for use on the main 'Blinds' page and the corresponding styles. These can then be used across their physical showroom as indicators of the style to assist people if they are not sure the name of the style they are after.
Overall, the site has a much fresher feel, due to the different typeface used, increase in high quality imagery and revising the layout. You can even have a tour through Alamo's Wokingham showroom, due to a Google 360º Video on their home page. Things like this, and the use of video on other parts of the website, make it a more interactive site than before and make use of features such as parallax scrolling, scrolling background images and a shrinking header.
We often work with existing clients to make sure their presence online is always as up-to-date as it can be - whether this is a re-design like Alamo Blinds or a quick refresh of content. If your brand could use some help to bring it inline with your current business goals, get in touch with Digity.
